June Birthday folks were delighted with the birthday song specially dedicated to them and the treats offered.
Super good to visit the Moral Welfare Home again since last year. Residents were excited to see us and enjoyed the dancing and singing performances.
We celebrated the March Birthday folks with a birthday song on Ukelele and presented them with goodie bags. Indeed “Sounds of Happiness” rang out loud and clear.
So honoured to meet retiree Mr Ng Seng Leong, the Author of “Culture in Clay”. A simple man who opened his collection of some 200 Shiwan ceramic artifacts to the public at his home.
He reminded me somewhat of my Father with his kindly demeanour. It was most refreshing and educational. I will remember him.
“Rejoice”
Final Home visit of the year, in the midst of “Giving Week’ and International Volunteer Day – Ling Kwang Home was brightened up with Xmas delights, cake, gifts and entertained with dances, songs and ukelele.
It was a most fulfilling time for everyone.
“Let’s Dance” Workshop
Super happy Saturday, enjoying quality time with the children! A peaceful home with newly renovated quarters, a Chapel, a small pond full of beautiful Koi fishes and an air-conditioned hall to facilitate the comfort of the children from low income, broken, dysfunctional or abusive families.
“Donate a Preloved Book”
So happy to have collected 165 Preloved books during this month-long campaign for Dignity Mama Stall (an initiative for youth with special needs).
Many thanks for contributing to this worthy cause:)
“Knock Knock”
Another wonderful and smooth ride on the big bus! The audience of wheel-chair bound folks were entertained with a variety of delightful performances of singing, ukelele and dancing.
As always, we left for home with our hearts full of joy.
“Back to Roots”
It was quiet as I approached the Centre, quite unusual for a Saturday. Then again, this is the week of the Nation’s annual celebrations with numerous activities everywhere.
Behind the solemn facade, delights unfolded within its walls. it was inspiring and fulfilled my mission of the day.
“Tanglin Halt”
Wow, sunny it was – ideal for durian fiesta and the outdoors! Such a lovely surprise to be entertained by lively Cha-Cha music. Even more surprising, Dr Chia Shi-Lu, Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar, welcomed all the participants personally.
The durians were good and we were also treated with water melon, mangosteen and rambutans.
Thereafter, fully energised, we started our outdoor excursion. Everyone had a super time! Another well-spent evening.
“Get Close”
A quiet morning, like any other, except that we were making a special visit. Dance Delights, Dance4Joy and Sing Sensations arrived early, all eager to entertain the residents bound in their wheelchairs and beds.
Several brought their husbands and adult children – a very special morning together. And so it was for all of us, spending meaningful time for a common cause.
“From Me To You”
In the midst of residential houses within an enclave, stands the quaint building of Darul Ihsan Girls’Orphanage. We were early and it was quiet and peaceful. Come tea-time, sounds of young persons filled the air. They soon warmed up to our presence and became excited with the gifts, thereafter pure joy when served with special ice-cream.
All of us felt very special and it was a day that will be etched in my mind.
It was a most memorable Vesak Day at the Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home. After we started the performances, a light shower of rain graced the Home. Our entourage of the Singing Sensations, accompanied by our ‘DIY mobile band’, performed four times round the wards.
It was most touching to see tears of appreciation from several ámahs’, who held our hands tightly, not wanting to let go. It was quite challenging to keep up our smiles whilst watching some of them in painful conditions. At the very least, we hope we had touched their hearts with moments of joy.
Thank You, Singing Sensations and kind helpers for a truly fulfilling Mission.
So thankful for a lovely day – the bus ride was smooth and we enjoyed the camaraderie along the way.
When we arrived at the Home, there was a sense of tranquility. The residents were in good form after returning from their outing. They rested whilst enjoying the refreshments and performances.
After the Bingo game, we bid them farewell and frail as they are, they made an effort to wave their hands in appreciation. That was the grand finale.
A big ‘Thank You’ to Dance Delights, Dance4Joy and kind helpers for a successful and fulfilling Mission.
